Supplier feed guide

Connect a supplier feed, then verify the first import.

Start with an address supplied by your supplier and access to a Feednaro workspace. The source wizard checks the actual file before you save it. Inspection helps you review the structure; a successful import is what makes offers available in the workspace.

Check what the supplier actually sends

Use an owner or admin account to configure a source. Have the full feed address, any required access details, the file format and the price currency ready. Ask whether each delivery contains the full catalogue or only changed offers. That distinction controls what happens to offers absent from the next file.

Supported source connection types are HTTPS, HTTP, FTP, SFTP and API. Supported file formats are CSV, XML, JSON and XLSX. API does not mean that every supplier API works without configuration: its authentication, response structure and download behaviour must fit the supported connection. Check the supplier's real feed rather than assuming compatibility from a format name.

Enter the connection in Sources

Open Sources and choose Add source. The wizard follows Connect, Review fields, then Validate & save. Use a separate source for each supplier feed so its settings, observations and import receipts remain distinguishable.

  1. Name the source

Enter Source name, select Connection type, then choose Feed format or Detect from the file. Use a name your team can recognise when it appears beside an offer.

  2. Add the feed address and access details

Put the supplier-provided address in Feed address. Use Username (optional) and Password (optional) for the appropriate connection, or API token (optional) for an HTTP/API Bearer token. Keep passwords and tokens out of the address.

  3. Inspect the actual feed

Choose Inspect feed. Wait for the download and analysis to finish. If inspection fails, review the displayed connection or file error before continuing; the inspection itself does not import offers or create price history.

Review the discovered fields

In Review fields, check the sample values beside each suggested match. Supplier SKU field, Unit price field and Availability field are required. Confirm Price currency and Decimal separator yourself. An optional EAN / GTIN field can connect the same product across suppliers when the identifier is valid.

If the file contains several record collections or worksheets, select Records to read or Worksheet. For CSV, check Column separator. A successful connection does not prove that the correct records or price column were selected, so follow the field-mapping guide before accepting suggestions.

Choose how future files will be handled

Validate & save shows complete-file Checked, Valid and Invalid counts alongside a preview of the first rows. Review both the supplier values and After mapping values. Select Invalid row handling deliberately; skipping invalid rows is a different policy from accepting a complete catalogue.

Settings to confirm before saving
SettingWhat to check
Feed contentsFull catalogue snapshot retires absent offers only after a completely valid import. Changes only keeps offers absent from that delivery.
Empty feed handlingKeep earlier offers and flag the import protects earlier data. Accepting a valid empty full snapshot can retire every offer from this source.
Check frequencyChoose the supplier's intended update interval, from the available schedule options. Scheduled checks are not a real-time stream.

Verify the first import, not just the connection

Choose Add source. A new source starts as Not imported. Open its Details and choose Import now, or wait for its schedule. A paused source must be resumed before requesting an import.

Check Import activity for the completed attempt, accepted and rejected rows, and any failure message. After a successful import, open Offers and confirm a known product's supplier SKU, unit price, currency and availability. Compare these with the supplier's file before relying on the comparison.

Later failures retain earlier good offers and their original observation times. Review source health and Offer last read when buying; an earlier retained price is not evidence that the supplier still offers it today.
